The people behind One Tree
In 2012, while searching for a spa gift voucher, we ran into a common problem: although many businesses promoted vouchers on their websites, very few had online purchasing.
It became clear that gift vouchers offer significant benefits to hospitality companies. They generate income, attract new customers and encourage repeat visits.
We saw an opportunity to simplify both sales and voucher tracking. An online shop, combined with a streamlined management system could generate more revenue while reducing workload and improve security.
That idea became One Tree Software.
Drawing on our wide-ranging experience in international corporations and small start-ups, we combined our expertise in data management, marketing and web applications to develop the One Tree Gift Voucher System.
On-going growth
The business has grown and expanded, and now we not only provide a Gift Voucher System but also offer additional an online ticketing for hotels and restaurants.
Over the past 14 years we have sent out over 500,000 vouchers (by email and post) and have partnered with around 300 UK hospitality businesses. The system is bespoke and our software infrastructure uses advanced technology.

Our commitment to the environment
Reducing our carbon footprint is no longer a nice-to-have ambition, it’s a necessity. While a digital business may not appear to cause a high level of damage to the environment, the servers that process the data use electricity which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. According to the UK government, data centres used 2.5% of the energy produced in Britain in 2025. This is only likely to increase as AI and digitisation play a greater role. A proportion of vouchers and tickets are also still printed out on paper which also has an environmental impact.
Offsetting our energy and paper use
Since energy use is inevitable to run a business, we are offsetting the CO2 produced by planting trees. Approximately 10,000 pieces of paper can be manufactured from a single tree, so we’re planting 10 trees for every 10,000 vouchers that the One Tree System generates. This off-sets one tonne of carbon per tree planted. Some of the trees planted have been purchased via Carbon Footprint. We also support More Trees Banes, and Avon Needs Trees – two local tree planting projects.
